DORCAS MILLS, 84, of Scalf, the widow of Johnnie Mills passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2002 in the Knox County Hospital. She was the daughter of James M. Mills and Julia Hubbard Mills, born to them on July 8 1917 in Knox County. Mrs. Mills was a member of the Salt Gum Baptist Church and a homemaker. On March 9, 1933, she united in marriage with Johnnie Mills and to this union eleven children were born. She is survived by one daughter, Judy Mills of Scalf; six sons, Raymond Mills and wife Betty of Dewitt, Ennis J Mills of Flat Lick, Omis Mills of Scalf, Wendell Keith Mills and wife Escelene of Scalf; 27 grandchildren and 36 great grandchildren; three sisters, Dora Mills of Barbourville, Chelsia Engle of Corbin, Daisy Simpson of Dayton, Ohio; one brother, James Eugene Mills and wife Helen of Pineville; one daughter-in-law, Virginia Mills of Irvine; one son-in-law, Clement Mills. Funeral services for Mrs. Mills were conducted on Sunday April 28. 2002 at the Salt Gum Baptist Church at Scalf with the Rev. Earl Hammons and Brother Jim Matt Bingham officiating. Mrs. Mills was laid to rest in the Johnnie Mills Cemetery at Jeffs Creek. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
