Etta Jarvis (July 28, 1917 - December 2, 2007) Etta Jarvis, age 90 of Flat Lick, Kentucky, was born on July 28, 1917 at Flat Lick. She was a daughter of the late James Henry and Alice Hammons Warren. Mrs. Jarvis died Sunday December 2, 2007 in the Pineville Community Hospital in Pineville, Kentucky. She was a member of the Concord Baptist Church. Mrs. Jarvis was a retired Elementary and High School Teacher, having taught in the Knox County School System. On July 7, 1942 she wed her high school sweetheart, Claude O. Jarvis, and to this union two beloved daughters were born. On March 29, 2004, her husband, Claude preceded her in death. Mrs. Jarvis was also preceded in death by; A Great Grandson; Landon Tye Vaughn; Her Brothers; Challis, Tom, Reed, Cecil, Kermit and Jimmy Warren; Three Sisters; Minnie Carnes, Oda Hobbs and Martha Warren. Surviving Mrs. Jarvis, Her Daughters; Penny Jarvis Gray and husband, Clark; Joetta Jarvis Gaunt and husband, Ed all of Flat Lick; Her Grandchildren; Claude Wilkerson Renfro and wife, Melissa, Holly Beth Mitchell and husband Greg, Courtney Kate Vaughn and husband Jonathon, and Laurel Meghann Gaunt. Her Great Grandchildren; Libby Kate and Cameron Jarvis Vaughn; Charles Keaton Mitchell, Zachary Clark Mitchell, Olivia Katherine Marie Mitchell; Sydney Isabella Renfro and Warren James Wilkerson Renfro; Her Sister; Bernice Warren Smith and husband, Dave of South Lebanon, Ohio; and dear relatives; Betty Baker and Hazel Mills both of Flat Lick; She also leaves many nieces, nephews and other dear family members. Funeral services for Etta Jarvis will be conducted in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Larry Wren Sowders and Dr. Joel Allen officiating. Interment will follow in the Hammons Cemetery at Flat Lick, with Wilkie Renfro, Jonathon Vaughn, Greg Mitchell, Jimmie Smith, Clark Gray and Ed Gaunt serving as pallbearers; Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Steven K. Morgan, James Stewart; Mike Corey, and Michael Jones. Friends will be recieved at the Hopper Funeral Home, Tuesday evening from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. and after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home. |
