Emma LEDINGTON HINKLE Emma Ledington Hinkle, 86, of Heidrick, was born on March 16. 1920 at Cannon, Ky. She was a daughter of the late Roy Ledington and Sudie Gross Ledington. Mrs. Hinkle died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 in Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington. Mrs. Hinkle was a faithful member of Highland Park Baptist Church for 62 years. She was a former Sunday school teacher and a WMU member. Emma was the head of the Neighborhood Bereavement Committee for over 40 years. She was a honorable Kentucky Colonel. Mrs. Hinkle owned and operated Hinkle Grocery at Heidrick for over 25 years before retiring. On Dec. 16, 1939, she united in marriage to Tip Hinkle and to this union a beloved son and daughter were born. Mrs. Hinkle was preceded in death by her husband, Tip, her sister, Sadie Ledington and her brothers, Carl and Sanford Ledington. Mrs. Hinkle is survived by her children, Windell Hinkle and wife Terry of Heidrick; Janet Osborne and husband Johnny of Acworth, Ga.; her grandchildren, Gordon Hinkle and wife Rene of Trace Branch; Tipperi Osborne Wooster and husband Craig of Acworth, Ga.; Kevin Hinkle and wife Donna of Heidrick; Jonathan Osborne and wife Emily of Acworth, Ga.; her great grandchildren, Macie Wooster, Kristen and Kiley Hinkle and Braydon Tip Hinkle; sister-in-law, Jenita Ledington Bennett of Trace Branch; several beloved nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors. Funeral services for Emma Ledington Hinkle were conducted in Hopper Funeral Home Chapel Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2007 at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Jeffery Branum and Dale Rose officiating. Interment followed in the McDonald Cemetery at Trace Branch with Doug Gross, Allen Ledington, Steve Ledington, Mike Deaton, Keith Abner and Ronnie Payne serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were all Emma's church family at Highland Park Baptist Church and all dear friends and neighbors. Hopper Funeral Home was in charge of all arrangements. |
