Lawrence James Helle October 19, 2003 Lawrence James Helle, better known as the bread man, 69, of Corbin, passed away Sunday, Oct. 19, 2003 at Samaritan Hospital in Lexington. The son of the late Delbert Vernon and Nellie Hayes Helle, he was born Aug. 23, 1934 in Peoria, Ill. He was a head sawyer with Midwest Walnut Company in Council Bluffs, Iowa, was a member of the Future Farmers of America and was past president of the United Commercial Travelers Chapter #182 in Jacksonville, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delbert and Nellie Hayes Helle; a daughter, Christina Jo Helle; and a sister, Phyllis Ann Helle. He is survived by his first wife, Sherry Helle Allman of Council Bluffs, Iowa; his second wife, Lucille Lindauer and care giver of Corbin; two sons, Randy Helle of Omaha, Neb. and Rev. John Delbert Helle and wife Beth of Grand Island, Neb.; five daughters, Debra Jean Helle Nagunst and husband Rick of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Terry Lynn Helle of Phoenix, Ariz., Wendy Leigh Helle Estes and husband Dwight of Topeka, Kan., April Rose Helle of Williamsburg and Jamie Sue Helle of Corbin; four brothers, Gordon Wayne Helle and wife Janet of Peoria, Ill., Maurice Carl Helle and wife Wendy of Phoenix, Ariz., Verle Edwin Helle and wife Patricia of Farmington, Ill. and Dwight Everal Helle and wife Joyce of Farmington, Ill.; two sisters, Adajune Helle Parker and husband William of Granville, Ohio and Joann Kathleen Helle Courtney of Fiatt, Ill.; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends mourn his passing. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2003 at the Farmington United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Richard officiating. Memorials may be made to the Diabetes Foundation or American Heart Association. The Corbin Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, Byron L. Schiesz, director.
