Virginia HARRIS Mrs. Virginia Harris, 86, of Cannon, Ky., was born on Nov. 20, 1920 and departed this life on Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007 in the Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was the daughter of John Dale Porter and Kate Glasscock. Mrs. Harris was retired from Warnaco after 35 years of employment. She was a member of the Sinking Valley Missionary Baptist Church. Mrs. Harris was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother and dearly loved by all who knew her. Mrs. Harris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joel Clifford Harris Sr., one daughter, Linda Gayle Warren; two brothers and two sisters. Survivors include: Daughter: Gretchen Sue Smith and husband Oakley of Norwood, Ohio; son, Joel Clifford Harris Jr. and wife Bonita of Cannon, Ky.; sister, Alice Rogers of Frankfort, Ky.; son-in-law, J.W. Warren of Hinkle, Ky.; 12 grandchildren: Pam Pennington, Deneen Howard, Karen Evans, Joey Harris, Regina Jones, Steve Smith, Rodney Harris, Angie Lay, James Lowell Mills, Kristi Hampton, Misty Carmack and Anderea Smith in addition to 20 great grandchildren: Jacob, Samantha, Brad, Katie, Jamie, Alli, Landon, Mike, Matthew, Lindsay, Braiden, Jordan, Savannah, Whitney, Molly, Nathan, Logan, Tyler, Adam and Evan. Mrs. Harris also leaves behind many friends and neighbors to mourn her passing. Funeral services for Mrs. Harris were conducted Monday, Feb. 5, 2007 at 2 p.m. in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Hall, Rev. Tim Strunk and Rev. Denvil Taylor officiating. Pallbearers were Jacob Smith, Brad Howard, Steve Smith, Rodney Harris, Joey Harris, J.W. Warren and Jeff McWilliams. Honorary pallbearers were Evan, Adam, Nathan, Braden, Jordan, Logan, Landon, Matt, Tyler and Mike. Burial followed at Warren Cemetery, Hinkle, Ky. Hampton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
