Roy HAMMONS Mr. Roy Hammons, 68, of Barbourville, departed this life on Wednesday evening, Aug. 16, 2006 in the St. Joseph East Hospital in Lexington. He was the husband of Mary Jane Rice Hammons and the son of Will Matt Hammons and Emma Smith Hammons, born to them on Oct. 18, 1937 in Knox County. On June 27, 1975, he united in marriage with Mary Jane Rice. He was a member of the Living Springs Full Gospel Church and was a retired construction worker. Mr. Hammons was preceded in death by his parents. Survivors include: His wife of 31 years, Mary Jane Hammons of Barbourville. Two sons: Robert Edward Hammons and wife Mae of Bimble, Ky. and Roy Scott Hammons and wife Gail of Jackson, Tenn. Three daughters: Mary Barnes and husband Lynn of Girdler, Ky., Patsy Ann Bryant and husband Marty of Pomeroy, Ohio and Rita Faye Howard and husband Kenneth of Barbourville, Ky. Three brothers: Luther Hammons and wife Thelma of Louisville, Ky., Burch Hammons and wife Rose of Corbin, Ky. and Ed Hammons and wife Lucy of Barbourville, Ky. One sister: Bertha Hale of Indiana. Thirteen grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren along with a host of many other relatives and friends who mourn his passing. Funeral services for Mr. Roy Hammons were conducted on Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006 at 2 p.m. in Hampton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Duke Hammons and Rev. Steve Rice officiating. Pallbearers were family and friends. Burial followed in the Rose Cemetery on walker Park Road. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
