Spencer Nunley Gray, 88, of Corbin, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 at Hillcrest Nursing Home. The son of the late Tilden and Mattie Mattling Gray, he was born Sept. 7, 1914 in Knox County. He was a member of the Gray's Baptist Church. He was part owner of Gray Coal Company. He was preceded in death by his parents, Tilden and Mattie Mattling Gray; his wife, Ella Jones Gray, April 21, 1976; one son, Spencer Gray, Jr.; and three brothers, Hagan Gray, Colvin Gray and Tilden Gray, Jr. He is survived by two daughters, Mattie "Teet" Bolton and husband Ray of Corbin and Jackie Sizemore and husband Owen of Gray; two grandsons, Colvin "Johnny" Bolton and wife Kim of Corbin and Timmy "Tadpole" Bolton and wife Bobbi of Gray; one granddaughter, Sonia Peterson and husband Dave of Gray; seven great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Marsha Briscoe of Corbin; and a host of family and friends who mourn his passing. The funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2003 at the Corbin Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Carl McCray officiating. Burial will be in the Gray Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. till 9 p.m. today Monday at the Corbin Funeral Home. The Corbin Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements, Byron L. Schiesz, director.
