Rose Garrett, 102, Corbin, passed away Sunday, October 19, 2003 at the Christian Health Center in Corbin. She was born on January 25, 1901 in Bell County, the daughter of the late Millard and Sallie Wilder Creech. She was a homemaker and was the oldest surviving member of the First Baptist Church in Corbin. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Garrett in 1980 and one son, Glen Garrett. She is survived by one son, Jack Garrett and his wife, Jimmy Rose of Columbia; two daughters, Eunice Cox of Corbin and Dixie Rich and her husband, Al of Toccoa, Georgia; seven grandchildren, Linda Miller, Max Cox, Patti Chism, Michael Rich, Pat Garrett, Jacquline Burton, and Glen A. Garrett; ten great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Creech of California and Robert Creech of Indiana; two sisters, Nell Bird of Corbin and Zella Campbell of Middlesboro. Funeral services were held Monday, October 20 at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Max A. Cox officiating. Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Pine Hill Cemetery with her grandsons serving as pallbearers.
