Effie FISHER Mrs. Effie Tuggle Hammons Fisher, 90, of Barbourville, passed away Wednesday morning, April 25, 2007 at her home. She was a daughter of the late Ernest 'Big Daddy' Tuggle Sr. and Roxie 'Mammy' McVey Tuggle born on May 31, 1916 at Heidrick. Mrs. Fisher was a former LaResista and Warner's employee and a substitute Post Mistress at the Heidrick Post Office. She was a former member of the Heidrick Holiness Church and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and tending to her flowers. On August 24, 1935, she united in marriage with Jesse Hammons and to this union two children were born. Mr. Hammons preceded her in death on March 24, 1965. Later, on August 19, 1972, she united in marriage with Reid Fisher who also preceded her in death on August 1, 1988. Other family members to precede her in death include a sister, Edith Lundy; three brothers, Willie, Ernest Jr. and Earl Tuggle; and a granddaughter, Judy Kay Koehler. Survivors include her children, Jeree Koehler and husband, Bob, of Barbourville and Jerry Hammons and wife, Sylvia, of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Karen Koehler Yeager and husband, Paul, of Georgetown, Brian Koehler and wife, Bonnie, of Lexington, Angie Hammons Cameron and husband, Kevin, of Zebulon, NC and Leslie Maynard Hammons of Raleigh, NC; seven great grandchildren, Jessie and Amanda Yeager, Emily, Elizabeth and Logan Koehler and Kaylee Elizabeth and Kenzie Lynn Cameron; a step great grandson, Daniel Taylor; a sister, Opal Doolin of Heidrick; a brother-in-law, Joe Hammons and wife, Esther, of Heidrick; a sister-in-law, Venna Tuggle of Heidrick; among other loved ones and dear friends who mourn her passing. Her funeral service was conducted in the chapel of the Knox Funeral Home Saturday, April 28 at 2 P.M. with Rev. Ronnie Ball, Rev. Tommy Frazier and Rev. Duke Hammons officiating. Mrs. Fisher was laid to rest in the Doolin Cemetery at Heidrick. Casket bearers were family and friends. |
