Submitted by Joyce Collins-Taylor OBITUARIES - Dayton Daily News - - Thursday May 1, 2007 Tressie Mills Melzoni� Tressie Mills Melzoni, age 87, of Miamisburg, OH, born January 9, 1920, in Gulston, KY to the late Gilbert and Axie (Hubbard) Mills. Passed away Saturday, April 28, 2007 after a lengthy challenge with dementia. Tressie's greatest joy was serving God and caring for her family. She was a pioneer for Ohio Southern Baptists serving alongside her minister husband in God's service for more than forty years. Tressie cherished her role as a pastor's wife and especially enjoyed teaching Sunday School sharing the gospel of Christ for over fifty years touching the lives of numerous young people and adults. She was one of the last generation of one-room (grades 1-8 school teachers) in Appalachia. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rev. Thomas Melzoni Sr. of forty-two years, sisters Betty Mills, Edith Bonza, and June Barnett, brothers Clyde Mills and Basil Mills, brothers-in-law Walter Bonza and Clifford Hensley. She is survived by children Sharon Black and husband Terry of Dayton, OH and Dr. Tom Melzoni Jr. and wife Trina of Dayton, sisters Thena Hensley, Bernice (Clarence) McCurry, Joyce (Kenneth) Fee, Sue (Earl) Schneider, brothers Rev. Nasby (Pat) Mills, and Dr. Bruce (Patsy) Mills, numerous nieces, nephews, other family, friends, and close friend of forty years Marcina Meyers. Funeral services will be held on May 3, 2007 at 12 noon at the Miami Shores Baptist Church, 4000 Vance Rd., Moraine, Ohio 45439. Dr. Tom Melzoni Jr. and Rev. Nasby Mills officiating. Burial Davids Cemetery. The family will receive friends AT THE CHURCH on May 3, 2007 from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Melzoni Fund (scholarship fund for ministerial students) administer by the Dayton Foundation, 2100 Kettering Tower, Dayton, Ohio 45423.
