ROBERT J. DANE, MD, 74, of W.T. Parker Road, Corbin, passed away Tuesday, May 7, 2002 at the Baptist Regional Medical Center. Dr. Dane is survived by his wife, Joan Lee Dane of Corbin and eight children, Mary Anne Zanetos, Barbara Dane, Judy Drake and John Dane, all of Columbus, Ohio, Robert M. Dane of Austin, Texas, Leslie Hampton of Corbin and Christie Angel of Charlotte, North Carolina; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who mourn his passing. His son, Jeffrey Dane, preceded him in death but leaves his daughter, Megan Dane of Columbus, Ohio. Dr. Dane was born on November 5, 1927 in Des Moines, Iowa. He graduated from Coe College in Ames, Iowa and Medical School at the University of Iowa. Dr. Dane practiced psychiatry for over 40 years, specializing in children and adolescents, disability and rehabilitation. Dr. Dane practiced in Columbus, Ohio where he served for many years as Director of the Children's Mental Health Center; in Warren, Ohio as Director of the Trumbull County Guidance Center and more recently in Corbin as Director of Programming and Planning of the Cumberland River Comprehensive Care Center. He also had a limited private practice for a number of years. Dr. Dane served on the Board of Directors of numerous local social agencies including Tri-County Literacy Council, Seton Home Health Hospice Program, Corbin United Effort (CUE), and Habitat for Humanity. He devoted much of his later years in service as an ordained Deacon of the Episcopal Church, Diocese of Lexington. A memorial service to celebrate his life of service and ministry was held at the St. John's Episcopal Church on Thursday, May 9.
