Glenos Cox Jr., 79, Corbin, husband of Bette Cox, passed away Saturday, July 26, 2003 after a lengthy illness. He was the son of the late Glenos Cox Sr. and Nancy Dickerson Cox of Wolf Creek. Mr. Cox was a World War II Navy veteran serving in the submarine service in the Pacific on the "Bluefish" and "Redfish". He graduated from the University of Kentucky with a degree in Civil Engineering. Until his retirement, he worked in his firm, Glenos Cox Consulting Engineering. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and bird dog trainer. He was an exceptional athlete in his youth playing baseball in the American Legion League, Williamsburg. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include three children, Rosemary Smith and her husband, Luther from Beattyville, Gary Cox and his wife, Karen from High Point, North Carolina, and Bill Cox and his wife, Margaret from Atlanta, Georgia; a step-son, Mike Felker and his wife, Judy from South Carolina; three grandsons, Drew and Jeremiah Smith who preceded their grandfather in death, and Jordan Cox Smith of Beattyville, a brother, Dr. James Cox and his wife, Inez from Greensboro, Georgia; and a sister, Nona Caddell and her husband, Kenneth from Dayton, Ohio; and numerous other relatives. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Almara Siler Cox. Funeral services were held Monday, July 28 at the Ellison Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Bill Mitchell officiating. Burial was in the Wolf Creek Cemetery. Ellison Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. |
