John B. CARTER John B. Carter of Barbourville, died Monday, November 26, 2007 in Knox County Hospital. He was a son of the late William Carter and Martha Bays Carter born to them at Brush Creek in Knox County. He was a member of the Apple Grove Baptist Church. Mr. Carter was a retired Tool Grinder. On July 24, 1944, he united in marriage to Ethel Mason. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ethel, of Barbourville; His Sister; Rachel Ballard and husband, John of Louisana; His Brother, Thomas Perkins and wife, Lorene of Jacksonville, Florida; His Sisters-in-law; Nancy Woods of Pineville; Edna Lavin and husband, Joe of Griffin, Georgia and Dorothy Greene of Pineville; He also leaves many dear nieces and nephews. Mr. Carter was preceded in death by three brothers; Walter, Arthur and Eugene Carter. Funeral Services for John B. Carter were conducted at the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, Nov. 30, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Paul Cooper, Dr. Bobby Lawson and Rev. Roger Hensley officiating. Interment followed in the Burch-Alford Cemetery at Artemus, with Randal Hembree, Todd Woods, Anthony Woods, Clifford Williamson, Willie Carter, and Brian Williamson serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers were: all members of the Apple Grove Baptist Church. Friends were received at the Hopper Funeral Home, Thursday, 6 to 9 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Friday until the funeral hour. Arrangements were under the direction of Hopper Funeral Home. |
