CARRIE CARNES, 84, of Flat Lick, passed away Saturday, July 1, 2000 in the Knox County Hospital. She was the daughter of the late Wade and Monie Merida Smith. In the 1950s she united in marriage with Jim Hale, who preceded her in death in 1975. In 1978 she united in marriage with Parker Carnes, who preceded her in death in 1999. Survivors include three step-daughters, Pearlie Hill and husband Clarence of Boone Height, Mae Payne of Bimble, Lena Peters and husband Leon of Corbin; five step-sons, Hubert Carnes and wife Myrtle of London, J.M. Carnes and wife Alice of Bimble, Otto Carnes of Manchester, Martin Carnes of Arkansas, Jimmy Carnes and wife Gracie of Manchester; 15 step-grandchildren; 20 step-great-grandchildren; a special cousin; three aunts; one uncle; three nieces; and two nephews. Funeral services were held in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, July 3 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Earl Hammons and the Rev. James Mooneyham officiating. Burial followed in the Houston-Broughton Cemetery at Roadfork. Hampton Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. |
