Signed: Saml. Ritchie Witnesses: Wm. Wallace, James Albert, J. L. Culbertson. Words "formerly Jane Ritchie, daughter of Francis Kindrick" were interlined and read to the witnesses.
There was no record of the proving of this will; however, on pages 115/116: Appraisement k Inventory of Samuel Ritchie, deceased, were dated 23 Jan. 1319, and included five slaves, law books, Bible, dictionary, and many other items- 32325.75
On page 233, there is an accounting by the executors in which it seems to me there was a shortage of "ready cash" on 16 Nov. 1820. It also seems that Isaac Lowe has furnished some money to the estate; perhaps, this referred to the $200 deduction to be taken from the share of Jane Lowe.
Frances Kindrick was the daughter of Patrick Kindrick; George Kindrick was her brother. "Jane Lowe, formerly Jane Ritchie, daughter of Frances Kindrick" was born 1795 & married ca 1312 John L. Elliott, alias Isaac Lowe (TEK Dec. 1971). Elliott Co., Ky., was named for their son, Judge John M. Elliott.
