RUEBEN KEITH, his wife and family stayed in Buncombe Co, NC,

GABRIEL KEITH moved with his wife and family to Anderson Co, Tennessee and settled there.

After MARY KEITH'S husband JAMES RITCHIE died , she returned to Virginia with her son JOHN (LONG JOHN) 7 his wife NANCY (HUTCHINSON) Ritchie and they all settled there. Some say that she died in Shenandoah Co, Va, but we do not know for sure, no one knows just where she is buried.

Rueben Keith’s brother Gabriel Keith married Mary Anderson, their children were:

Sary, Elizabeth, Nancy, John, Samuel, Abraham and Gabriel Keith, who was born in 1810 in NC, they later moved with their family to Anderson Co, Tennessee, Rueben appears on a list of delinquent tax payers on 150 acres of land in Anderson County, TN, so he was in Anderson County, sometime in 1810.

 

Gabriel Keith appears in court records as a juror up to 1818. In 1830 he is still in Anderson County, TN, there is a Margaret Keith as head of household, she must be the same MARY, his wife, there is 1 male 15 – 20, 3 males, 20 – 30, 1 male 60 – 70 and 1 female 50 – 60, I believe that this is Gabriel Keith and his family.

 

The age of Gabriel Keith from the NC census would match up with this 60- 70 year old male in Anderson County, TN, as Margaret being the head of household ( Mary KEITH) John Keith was born abt 1802, Samuel Keith was born abt 1803, Abraham Keith ? and Gabriel Keith JR born abt 1810 in NC.

 

They all appear in Anderson County, TN ion the 1840 Census, there appears a woman 60 – 70 living with Gabriel Keith, her son, in 1850 Census of Anderson County, TN she appears as Mary Keith, age 80 years old born in NC, living with her son John Keith.

 

I think that this Mary (ANDERSON ) Keith and Margaret Keith are one of the same persons
