I am looking for any information about about the family of Samuel Brown.
Samuel was from Pittsburgh, PA. His mother was Sallie Dean and his wife was
Sarah who was from KY. Samuel and Sarah's children were to the best of my
knowledge all born in Kentucky. They had lived in the Ludlow, Kenton Co.
area in the 1860's. I do know that one of his sons, Ralph Grayson Brown,
married in Newport, KY and eventually moved to Vigo Co., IN were he and his
wife, Frances Bell (PUFF) Brown died. If you have any information about this

My Grandfather John Grizzel was born in Pendleton County KY in 1864. He married
Annie Dunn in Pendleton. John and Annie moved their family--Maude, Joseph
(my father), Frances, Carrie, and Sylvia--to Carter County, KY. I believe
that my grandfather was living in Greenup County KY on his farm on Grizzle
Hollow at the time he died. His death certif. indicates that he died in Kenton
County KY in 1917. Would appreciate any info regarding a newspaper obit either
from Kenton or from Carter or Greenup. Family verbal history says that my
grandparents John and Annie Grizzel were buried at the Huffman Cemetery at
Iron Hill KY. I cannot find a monument there for them. Any info would be

Raymond S. PYLE, age 90, died in Kenton Co. Dec. 12, 1982. He may have been
son of Aquilla Pyle and Rachel REESE, who were married in Bracken Co. KY
17 Nov 1875. Their other children were: Harry, Stella, Lulie, Emma, George,
James plus others. For a time, Aquilla and Rachel lived in Clark Co., KY
and he claimed Civil War service at Woodford Co., but no record of any service
has been found. Aquilla and his siblings were born in Cincinnati, but between
1850 and 1860 moved to Bracken Co., KY where their father, James Smith PYLE
was a vine dresser. PYLE sibling marriages found in Bracken Co. were: Alfred,
who married Emma BIXLER; sisters Eunice (married Thomas CASE), Catherine
married William CASE, Nannie married Edward Montgomery EDMONSON , from Brown
Co. OH (they were my gt-grandparents). Am looking for descendants of any

I am doing research on my grandfather's family in Walton, Ky and Independence.
Have looked at the real estate records and copied them, however it does not
tell me his parent's parents from Canada.Know Rachel Clark Jones and William
Peter Jones are buried in the Independence Cemetery, know all of their eight
children, six of which were born around Walton and Independence. There must
be a way to track some relatives. Lydia Bell Jones Wilson and Lewis N Wilson
are also in the Independence Cemetery. Dr. Asa Newton Jones married Addie
Poor and then Alice Whitson. Dr. William Henry Jones married a Clara V, Dr.
Frank Vernon Jones married Clara Belle Hume. My grandfather Dr. Richard Mann
Jones I know about. William Peter Jones was from Malahide, Canada and Rachel
Clark Jones was from Dunwich, Ont. Know William Peter Jones and the oldest
two children are listed in the Kenton County Census of 1870. He died in 1873.

I am looking for information on the following names in Kenton County; BROERING,
TRENKAMP, MASCHINOT, SCHMEES, MEIBERS, and PRIESTHOFF. The Broerings first
came to Cincinnati in 1857 from Germany and moved to Kenton County in 1861.
The Trenkamps followed the same path as the Broerings, with Elizabeth Trenkamp
marrying Dominicus Broering. Rosa Meibers married Frank Broering in Kenton
County in 1892. Frank ran a brickyard with his brother-in law August Meiers.
The Maschinots and Schmees were originally in Campbell County but some moved
to Kenton County.

a Welshman born circa 1834. Marriage was Jan 1859 in Hamilton Co OH. Had
at least 4 children by Thomas: Chester Thomas or Thomas Chester b. Dec 1859
in KY (died abt 1890 in Mingo Jct. Jefferson Co. OH), Jane or Jennie b. abt
1862 in OH ?, John b. 14 Feb 1864 in Ohio Co. WV, and Annie b. abt 1866 in
OH (possibly Ironton, Lawrence Co. OH). Annie married a man named Kuehne
in Ironton in the early 1880's. Cannot confirm any of these births. Matilda
died Oct 1881/1882 in Ironton, Lawrence Co. OH from small pox. Thomas remarried
a widow Mary Walton (?) Gower or Gowan in 1883, and had 1 more child, a daughter
Matilda Jane b. 1 Mar 1885. Mary died 1892 in Ironton from consumption. Unknown
what became of Thomas except that he went to live in an old soldiers' home
in Sandusky circa 1894 but he didn't die there !

GILMAN in Campbell Co. KY Jan 7, 1829. I can't find proof of his father.
GODFREY HITCHCOCK (born in PA) owned property in a section of Campbell Co
that became Kenton Co. He was bondsman on 2 of his daughters marriage bonds
in Campbell Co. At the time of his death in 1829 he owned property at 4th
and Greenup Sts. I can find no will listing his children, and his appraisement
does not list anyone. Would greatly appreciate help on this.
Looking for Alex POTEETE-Poteet-Puteet-Poteat born 1859 in Va. He lived in
Whitley Co., in the Corbin area. lst wife Malvennia Amburn born 1863, 2nd
wife Susie Amburn, born 1888. Some of his children lived in Kenton Co. KY.
Susie died in Kenton Co. and her body was taken by train back to Corbin area,
cannot find where she was buried. Can not find where Alex and lst wife Malvania
died. Cannot seem to get further back on these 2.

Jane Brown, born Feb 10, 1811. First child was my G-Grandfather; John Grizzel

Romullus TAYLOR were my husband's gr-grandparents. Looking for parents of
Kate & Emma. Emma's death certif. says her father, John RIGSLIE, b in
Eng; doesn't give mother's name. Census says her mother b in KY. Emma's husband,
Romullus TAYLOR, from old Madison Co. family, but his father moved to Fayette
Co. & d there. They were married in 1876 in KY; haven't found record.
2nd child of Romullus & Emma b in Danville, Boyle Co., 1879. Family uncertain
of name RIGSLIE; have found no likely John Rigslie, Rieley, Rigsby, etc.

My grandfather was William Howard CLEGG. He married into the UTZ family of
Boone Co. KY. Three generations of CLEGGs are buried at the Hopeful cemetary
in Florence, KY. Prior to the first of these generations the CLEGGs lived
in the Covington/Cinncinnati area. It is said that the first CLEGG in the
US came with two male siblings. He was a blacksmith by trade and might have
shoed horses. This would have made for a business connection between my
grandparent's families. I am looking for further information on this early
Clegg and any proof as to his line of work.

indicates that he was born in England, presumably in the late 1700s, and
that his wife's name was Elizabeth Schaufner Pringle, who was born in Germany

before settling in southeast Iowa. I do not believe that William Pringle

was buried and lived in Kenton Co. KY her death Date was 12/18/1849. Her
Son William Fielding Durfee b. 7/4/1818 d. 3/11/1877 was married and had
children born in Kenton Co. He married Mary Marrell on 6/20/1840. Michael
Kenney Durfee b. 3/20/1840, Margarett bon 12/23/1843, Samuel Cozy b. 12/12/1844,
George b.?, and William F. L. b. 7/20/1847 all children were supposedly born
in Kenton County. Then around 1849 William Moved to Southern IL. We have
no birth or death dates for Mary Marrell but believe she may have died in

I am interested in information on Frank "Franz" Gieske who apparently
came to the USA from Neuenkirchen in North Germany . The Province was probably
Oldenberg, between Bremen and Bremerhaven. We think he came between 1859
and 1865. He live in Covington at first and by aboaut 1872 we find him in
the Cincinnati Directory. He married Elizabeth Broerman (probably in Kentucky)
and we think the first two of his six children, Joeseph and possibly Della
were also born there. There might have been a family connection with the
Kniehrem (sp) family.

John B. and Joseph are brothers and that William and Lucretia are probably

younger Shepherd members. I. JOHN B. SHEPHERD b. 8 July 1777 in MD (location
unknown but possibly Charles Co. MD as three of his children married three

found in the household is Joseph Shepherd Jr. age 16, a farmer. Joseph Shepherd
Jr. is found in the 1860 Grayson Co., KY census, age 26 with Eliza wife age.
26 and daus. Julia 3 and Susan J 6/12. John H. Shepherd is found in the 1870
Grayson Co., KY census age 45, wife Sarah E. Age 37 and children Mary Elizabeth
age 12, J. H. age 10, Benedict age 7, and S.W. age 5. The 1880 Grayson Co.,
KY census lists Eliza A. Sheppard age 46 with daus. Julia A. 23, Teresa E.
18, Mary E. age 14, and Nancy C. 10. Grayson Co. marriages lists Joseph Shepherd
of Grayson Co., age 21 m. to Eliza Clark of Grayson Co., age 23 m. on 20
Nov. 1856. Grayson Co., KY Miscellaneous, by F. T. Ingmire, pg. 12 lists
the "death of Joseph Shepherd age 78 died 18 Feb. 1859 of old age, parent
John Shepherd" making a birth year of 1781. III. WILLIAM SHEPHERD Listed
on the 1820 census of Grayson Co, KY, but disappears in 1830. In 1820 he
is listed as having seven children. IV. LUCRETIA SHEPHERD m. James G. Jones

Judge, Perry Co., IN Their marriage is also listed in the St. Augestine Catholic
Church in Leopold, IN. A child and a grandchild of John B. Shepherd’s
appeared in Leopold Twsp, Perry Co. The first was the marriage of Joseph
Shepherd to Catharine Stephens 13 May 1832 by Chas. Coomes, a Catholic priest
and apparently close friend of the family since he officiated at many of
their events. The second incident was the grandson of John B. Shepherd’s
to be baptized in Perry Co., IN. In St. Augestine’s parish we also find
the 10 Apr 1851 baptism of James Monroe Shepherd s/o John Miles and Rose
Ann King. Also the 1861 Perry Co., IN atlas lists J. H. Shepherd owning 80
acres in the SW corner of the county (Leopold Twsp) and another 80 acres
joining Leopold Twsp with Union Twsp and ab. 2 mi. South of the St.
Augestine’s Catholic Church. J. Jones owns 80 acres in Tobin Twsp. James
G. Jones was Indiana’s first Attorney General although the office was
not funded in the 1816 Constitution. It was in 1821 that the legislature
established or funded the office for a period of three years and an annual
salary of $200. James G. Jones’s signature as AG can be found on
approximately twelve documents. "Warrick Co - 1885" by Goodspeed, pg.. 7
"One of the ablest lawyers of the Indiana bar was James G. Jones who succeeded
Judge Panett 1869-1871. Resident of Evansville. Vanderburgh Co., IN, but
lived early life in Newburg. Attorney General for the State." pg. 53 lists
James G. Jones Coroner 1814. Pg. 86 "James G. Jones was a member of the secret
society of the Newburg Lodge #104, I.O.O.F. and a charter member of Wolsey

BENSON. Researching the BENSON line, decendants of Zachariah Benson, from
VA(?), d. bef. 1838, buried in Campbell Co. His children: Reuben, b. 1791
in VA, d. bef Oct 1860, buried in Fiskburg, Kenton Co.; Martin; Judy; Mima;
Nancy; and Matthew. Many of Reuben's children and decendants lived in Grant
and Pendleton Co. However, some of the family apparently lived from time
to time in Kenton Co. I would appreciate any info on this BENSON line and

My g-grandmother Bena E. Canfield-Miller died at the home of her sister
and brother-in-law Lucy and Edward Moreland on 30 Dec 1907. I would like
to know if a death certificate is available and how to obtain one. Bena was
buried in Aurora, Indiana. I am also searching for information on Mary Bena
Moreland, daugther of Lucy and Edward. Their son Chester had a daughter Jane
who married Floyd Ward and had three children. I am searching for the names
of those three children. I would appreciate any suggestions regarding where
to search for this information.

I am searching for information about George Gaunt and his wife Emma Robinson
Gaunt. George was born abt 1862 in Ohio. They appear in the 1920 census for
Kenton, County. George was abt. 58 and Emma abt. 60 years old at the time.
Their children were Alice Gaunt Sizelove, Ella Gaunt Showalter, Minnie Gaunt
Fischer, William Gaunt (married Myrtle Jane Childress) and George Gaunt.
I belive most of their children were born in the Cincinnati area of Ohio
but were raised and married in Kenton, County. Information on any of these
people will be greatly appreciated. I want to thank Debbie and Carol for
