Martin Luther Price
Martin Luther Price, 73, member of a prominent Johnson County family, passed away November 30, 1951 at his home in King Addition after an illness of two years. His death was attributed to pneumonia, which he contracted a few days prior to his death. He was the son of the late Martin Luther and Exer Preston Price of this county and was a member of the United Baptist Church and the Masonic Lodge, F. & A. M.
He was born in this county in August 5, 1878. Before moving to Paintsville about the year 1938, Mr. Price was postmaster at Van Lear where he resided with his family for many years. He had a kindly disposition that won him many friends throughout the entire county. His wife, Mrs. Mary Rebecca Davis Price, to whom he was married on December 14, 1898, survives him. Other survivors include five sons and one daughter, Luther Price, Morehead, Ky., John C. Price, Elmer Price, E. H. Price, State Fire Warden, Cecil Price, and Nora Thelma Price, all of Paintsville. One sister, Mrs. Virgie Grim, of West Van Lear, also survives.
Preceding him in death were two sisters and one brother, Mrs. Sherman Conley, Mrs. W. L. Smith and George W. Price. Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Sunday, December 2, at the United Baptist Church with Rev. F. F. Rigsby and Rev. Sylvan Lewis officiating.
Interment was made in the Johnson Cemetery at Thelma under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
