Ursula VanHoose is the daughter of Francis M. Witten and Pauline Williams (1of 4 wives). The following is from Paintsville Herald, Wednesday, September 2, 1992.
Sula VanHoose, 103, died Monday, August 24 at her Nippa residence. Mrs. VanHoose was born July 18, 1889 in Johnson County, the daughter of the late Frank and Pauline Williams Witten. She was a member of the Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter VanHoose, in 1974.
Surviving are two sons, Paul VanHoose of Nippa and Willard VanHoose of Mt. Dora, Florida; three daughters, Dorothy VanHoose of Nippa, Deloris Stambaugh of Stambaugh and Wilma Meade of Cleveland, Tennessee; one half brother Jack Witten; and 24 grandchildren, 58 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Thursday, August 27 in Tom's Creek Freewill Baptist, with James Kelly Caudill and Dick VanHoose officiating. Burial was in VanHoose Family Cemetery, with Jones-Preston Funeral Home Chapel in charge of arrangements.
