From the Paintsville Herald 1926
Dear Santa,
I saw in he Herald for all boys and girls to write you to be sure I am always looking for you every Christmas. So I hope you sleigh will be in good order and will not pass without calling. Dear Santa, you always have so many nice things I hardly know what to ask for. I would like some nice books to read and a real big doll and carriage, so please don't forget me. Dear Santa, I have been a very good girl. I try to help mother and mind the baby so she can work. So I will see you on Christmas night so I wish you good luck and a safe journey.

Dear Old Santa Claus,
I know when you read this letter you will say, I have heard of this girl before. The reason was that last year I won the prize being the best little girl. So dear Santa, I am the same this year. My little brother Clarence has written you and he said that you won't bring me anything; but Santa you will won't you? Dear Santa, bring me a little doll, house, stove and furniture, and everything a doll has to have dear Santa, and anything else you want to bring, Santa Claus. Wait a minute Santa Claus; Mama said to tell you I am the best little girl in the world; my teacher said so too, and you can ask her. So be sure Santa, Good bye.

I go to school everyday. I am learning fast. Hope you will be here soon with a pretty wagon. Answer soon, from

Dear Santa Claus,
It is about time for you to begin to make your rounds to get to my house for Christmas. Please dear Santa, bring me something, because I have been a good little girl. I'm just eight years old and mother's baby, and you always say that babies are good, an now, dear Santa, don't forget me, because my big brother and sister tease ma and say you won't bring anything, and I want you to show "em. Here are the things I want: a big doll that can say "mama," a piano. Oh dear Santa, I can't name everything so don't forget for whatever you do.
Well, Santa, I will have to go and help mother. Good-bye
Hessie Lee Wells - Boons Camp Ky
Dear Santa Claus,
I thought I would write you a few lines to let you know how I am and how I want to see you. Dear Santa, I am well and going to school everyday and having a goodtime.
Santa, I want to see you so bad that I can't hardly wait until Christmas. So I guess you had better send me a basket ball and some candy and a story book and a little gun and a cap pistol and anything else you want to send. So I guess I better close for now. Your friend,

Dear Santa Claus
As I hear other boys and girls are writing to you, I know I am as good as them. Listen, Santa, Mamma says I am the best little boy all over this whole world, and my teacher says I am awfully bright. I have sixteen headmarks in my class, just six years old and in my second reader. Did you hear that Santa? And I know my Mamma and teacher are the people in the world except daddy and all the rest. Now dear Santa I think you know I am good and I want you to bring me a drum, air plane (paper damaged) And Santa don't forget candy and alot more other things. So goodbye Santa and a thousand hugs and kisses until Xmas night.
