Sidney Adams
This is my great uncle Sidney Adams. He was a brother of the John D. Adams (who is listed in the table). Attached is a picture of his headstone, which is located the Preston Family Cemetery in Paintsville. After the war, he moved to Birmingham, AL and married (not necessarily in that order) and worked for Otis Elevator Co until his death in 1935 from a heart attack. He is buried next to his brother, John D., his sister Jolly, his sister-in-law Lennie (Collins) Adams, and 4 infant nieces/nephews in the Adams plot.
I have confirmed from a grand-daughter-in-law of his that Sidney lied about his age in order to enlist in 1914 (he was actually 16 at the time), served from 1914 to 1918, was gassed while serving overseas. After his return, he married then moved to Alabama. He died, unexpectedly, at only age 35 of a heart attack while walking to work one morning.
