Shade W. Walters, 92, of 1305 McConnell Ave., died at Mercy Hospital Thursday at
6 a.m. after a
three year illness. Born July 3, 1864, at Paintsville, KY, he was a son of
Winfred and
Elizabeth Preston Walters.
He was a storekeeper and postmaster at Minford for a number of years.
After his retirement, he moved to McConnelsville, OH where he lived until his
wife, the former
Martha Sagraves, died in 1949.
After her death he made his home with a daughter, Mrs. John Coriell, 1305
McConnell Ave.
Surviving are four sons, E. W. of 1925 Seventh St., Bruce and Thomas of Columbus
and Glenn of
Chillicothe; three daughters, Mrs. Alma Wheeler of Ashland, Mrs. Coriell of
Portsmouth, and
Miss Goldie Walters of Radford, VA; two brothers, Dr. W. J. Walters of
Pikeville, KY, and U.S.
Walters of Offutt, KY; and a sister, Mrs. Exer Preston of Epharata, WA.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a son. Mr. Walters was a
member of the United
Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. at Brock Funeral Home with
Rev. Russell
Milam officiating.
Burial will be in Bennett Cemetery at Minford.
