Samuel Forest Colvin
SAMUEL FOREST COLVIN, 73, Passed away at his home at Manila, on Sunday, August 19, after a long illness. During the past year he had suffered several paralytic strokes. His funeral will be held this afternoon (Thursday) under the direction of the Preston Funeral Home.
Mr. Colvin was a life long resident of the Manila section and was a prominent farmer in his community. He was respected and loved by his neighbors and friends who will regret to learn of his death.
Survivors are his wife, Julia Blanton Colvin, and twelve children, Mrs. Louella Richardson, Manila; Mrs. Finetta Williams, Ohio; Mrs. Kathleen Sparks, Flat Gap; Samuel Colvin, City; Branch Harmon and Douglas of the Navy in the Pacific, Lt. Ora Colvin in Europe; Chester in the Army in Texas; Virgil, Manila; Sanford & Mitchell, Greenup County; and Warner in Ohio. A daughter, Mrs. Lexie McCarty, died several years ago, and three children died in childhood. Ray Turner, City, is a half brother of deceased. Before Samuel was discharged from the Army in which he served a chaplain, there were five Colvin sons in service. Chester is expected to arrive from his Texas camp, to attend the funeral today.
