4 cups self-rising flour 1 tbsp sugar 3 tbsp baking powder 7 tbsp shortening 2 cups buttermilk
1. Sift together flour, sugar & baking powder; cut in shortening. 2. Mix in buttermilk with a fork, just until dough is moistened. 3. Shape dough in a ball and knead a few times on a lightly floured surface. 4. Roll to 3/4 inch thickness and cut with a 3-inch biscuit cutter. 5. Place biscuits on a greased baking sheet. 6. Bake at 450 degrees for about 15 minutes or until golden.
1/2 cup all-purpose flour 2 lbs. ground sausage, browned and drained 4 cups milk salt and pepper to taste
1. Sprinkle flour in with sausage stirring until dissolved. 2. Gradually add milk. Cook over med heat until thick & bubbly. 3. Season with salt and pepper and serve over warm biscuits. 4. Makes 10 to 12 servings.
