Robert Murphy
Services Held Sunday At West Van Lear
Robert Murphy, 74, died Wednesday evening in the Veteran's Hospital in Dayton, Ohio.
Born December 21, 1882, he was the son of the late Marion Thomas and Sytha Lemaster Murphy. He had been a resident of Dayton for five years. He was retired from the U. S. Army. By occupation, he was a salesman.
His wife, Alka Duty Murphy, preceded him in death February 22, 1946.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Earl Murphy, stationed at Fort Knox, Ky., and Claude Allen Murphy, stationed at Fort Sill, Okla., and one daughter, Mrs. Loretta Ward of Williamsport.
Other survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Virgie Price, West Van Lear, Mrs. Jennie Caudill, Kilbourne, Ohio, Mrs. Elizabeth Remphroe, Shelbyville and Mrs. Martha Brown, Prestonsburg, and three brothers, Bill Murphy, West Van Lear, Pat Murphy, Sandusky, Ohio, and Alex Murphy, Toledo, Ohio.
Services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Sunday from the West Van Lear Church of Christ with Moses Kitchen as officiating minister. Music was by the Toms Creek Singers. Burial was made in the Cumbo Cemetery at West Van Lear.
