Stephen Howes Johnson

Stephen Howes Johnson, 61, of Paintsville, died Wednesday, Apr. 10, at his residence.
Born Jan. 30, 1941, in Louisville, he was a son of William A. Johnson and the late Mary Evelyn Howes. He was an attorney, member of the Kentucky and Johnson County Bar Associations, member and past president of the Rotary Club, member of First United Methodist Church, served Paintsville as city attorney for two terms, charter member of Paintsville High School Alumni
Association, a member of the 1958 PHS golf team that won the state title, a graduate of Duke University with honors in economics, graduate of University of Kentucky School of Law and Order
of the COIF, U.S. naval veteran serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis and past member of the naval ROTC.
Survivors include his wife, Harriet Johnson of Paintsville; a daughter, Jan Leigh Patton of Paintsville; and a grandson.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. today, Friday, Apr. 12, at Paintsville Funeral Chapel, with Father Terance Hoppenjans and Rev. Donnie Patrick officiating. Burial will be in Mayo Memorial Cemetery, Paintsville, under direction of Paintsville Funeral Home.
