Henderson Smith was born Nov 16, 1889 and died Feb 16, 1978. He had four children, 2 boys and 2 girls - Lucy Cantrell, Rte. 3, West Liberty, Ruth Smith, Fairborn, Ohio, William Arlan Smith, James Warner Smith.
Both sons, deceased, a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was a resident of Smith Creek, Ky

Bill Campbell
Bill Campbell died in his home at Ary, Ky April 11, 1978. He was 61 years and two months old.
He was married to Rachel Stacy Campbell March 29, 1945 and he was a member of the Orthodox Church.
He is survived by his wife Rachel, four sons, David, Chester, Ernest and Ronald, and four daughters Peggy, Carol and Betty Campbell and Vicki Lynn Chaney and 6 grandchildren and 4 sisters also survive and a host of friends and relatives.
He will be missed by all who knew him

Rev Charles Benjamin Smith
Charles was born February 9, 1915 in Morgan County Ky. The son of the late Rev Winston Vermont and Jannie Dexter Smith. He departed this life on Aug 6, 1978 at the age of 63 years, 5 months and 27 days.
He was united in marriage to Menthola Justice on March 14, 1937. To this union five children were born. One son, Jamie preceded him in death.
He was a member of the Indiana Harbor Lodge F and AM Number 686, Ancient Scottish Rite, Valley of South Bend Ind., Orak Temple A.A.O. N. M. S. of Hammond, Ind. He was a member of the Smith Creek Valley Baptist Church, Rt 3 West Liberty Ky and the Black Oak Community Church, Gary Ind., He was a retired painter from Leaver Brothers Co., Whiting Ind.
Surviving is one daughter Arlene Francis Smith, Gary Ind., three sons: Charles B Smith Jr., Hammond, Ind., William J and Benjamin Smith both of Gary, Ind. Seven grandchildren. Also surviving are two sisters; Mrs. Ronnie K. Ferguson, St Johns, Ind Sophrona D Crisp, Gary Ind and one brother Rurie O. Smith Louisa Ky.

Malcolm Jennings Smith
In memory of Malcolm Jennings Smith born April 12, 1902. He was the oldest son of William walker Smith and Mahala Hill Smith.
He was united in marriage to Lizzie Skaggs 9deceased) oct.1921 to this union were born 2 children. Thelma Smith Adams and Kenneth Smith.
He married Ella F Lemasters Oct 2, 1928 (deceased) to this union were born seven children. Five preceded him in death. He is survived by his four children, Thelma Smith Adams of Dayton Ohio, Kenneth Smith of Paris Kentucky, Sarah Smith Robbins of Gobbs, Michigan and Wendell Smith of West Liberty., also 19 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren and one brother Auty Smith of Bardstown, two sisters, Exie Smith of Grayson, Ky and Mexie Cottle of Lexington.
He was converted and baptized into the Lacy Valley Church of the Regular Primitive Baptist Church Oct 2, 1939. He joined the Smith Creek Valley in the organization of the church and remained a member until his death which occurred in West Liberty Hospital February 17, 1978. The community has lost a friend and neighbor and will be sadly missed. His children and grandchild have lost a kind and loving father which they loved dearly. He was so kind and loving and always concerned about his family and fellowman.
He always had a friendly smile and warm greeting to all he met as he traveled down the road of life.

Nancy Ellen Gibson Sparks was born in Elliot Co., March 30,
1885, was the daughter of David and Sallie Gibson and departed this life
Oct 9, 1967 at the age of 82 years, 7 months and 10 days.
She was united in marriage to Jason Sparks, who passed away in
1954. To this union was born 7 children, 3 son preceded her in death. He
baby boy, Earl Sparks, was killed in service. Surviving are two sons
Arnold Sparks of West Portsmouth, Ohio; Denver Parks of Baltimore Md.,
two daughters twins, Mrs Esther Burgess (widow) 13030 Mabert Rd.,
Portsmouth Ohio, Hester Major of South Portsmouth, Ky; two sisters Cora
Ferguson Rt 3 Box 146 West Liberty Ky; Pearl Rice, Glendale Ariz.
She had belonged to the regular Primitive Baptists Church at
Isonville Ky for more than 50 years.
We believe that in the morning of the Resurrection that sister
Nancy Ellen will get up with a perfect body and shout the praises to the
Lord who kept her.

Gladey Estepp
Gladey Estep was born Mach 26, 1927, departed this life March 25, 1967
lacking one day of being 40 years old. Gladey was the daughter of Oscar
and Florence Lemaster Gullett in her younger days. She was united in
marriage to Samuel Orville Estepp, surviving are he husband, one
daughter, Manda Lee, at home. Her father Oscar Gullett and her mother
Florence Lemaster Gullett of Silverhill, Ky. 3 brothers Bruce of Beaver
Ohio, D. B. Of West Liberty, and Troy of Flat Fork., and four sisters,
Ada Vance of Dayton, Mary Minix Judson, Indiana, Martha Williams,
Springfield Ohio, Amanda Prater Salyersville, Ky.
Gladey never attached herself to any church but to some members of the
family she confessed the hope in Christ and told them that she had a
better home to go to. Gladey was a loving mother and companion and was
loved by all who knew her. We believe that in the morning of the
Resurrection that Gladey will get up with a perfect body and shout
praises to the Lord who kept her.

Peter Daniel Dixon
Peter Daniel Dixon, 52, of Route 5 was dead on arrival at Chillicothe
Hospital at 9 am Monday. Born October 24, 1914 at WhiteHouse Ky, he was
the son of Edgar and Jennie Daniel Dixon.
Previously married to Opal Dixon, he married Mrs. Della Pack August 1,
1950. Surviving in addition to his are his parents who live in Van Lear,
Ky. Also surviving are three daughters, Delema, Jenelle and Delores,
Strunk, Ky; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Patricia Ratliff Rte 5, three sons
Clyde, Delmar and Gene, Strunk ky,; a stepson, Benjamin Pack Rte 5, 10
grandchildren, six sisters Mrs Virgie Blair, Chicago Il., Mrs Rosemary
Dow, Tampa Fla., Mrs Addie Mollette, Tomahawk, Ky., Mrs Hatty Wells,
Cleveland, Ohio,; Mrs Fora Osbourne Prestonsburg, Ky., and Mrs Martha
Daughtery, Strunk Ky., and three brothers, Walter Dixon, Paintsville,
Raymond and Chester Dixon, Cleveland.
He was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church, Waverly Ohio Rt 1.
He will be sadly missed by his wife and children will mourn his loss. We
believe that we will see brother Daniel again he will be at home where
trouble can come no more.
John Cole
John Cole was born June 9, 1891, departed this life May 18, 1967 being
75 year, 11 months and 9 days of age. John wa the son of the late Joseph
and Virginia Pendleton Cole. On June 5, 1913 John was united in marriage
to Martha Gullett and to this union was born four sons and three
daughters. Three sons and one daughter preceded him in death and on July
6, 1966, Martha, his wife preceded him in death.
Those surviving are one son Joe Cole of Columbus; Mrs. Ashley Williams
of Miamisburg, Ohio, Mrs. Ralph Pennington, Miamiasburg, Ohio and one
grandson and one granddaughter and two great-grandchildren and two
sisters, Mintie Helton, Ophir, Ky., Deanie Helton, Mansfield, Ohio and
several nephews and nieces and a host of other friends and relatives.
John was converted and baptized Sept 6, 1947 and took membership with
the Lacey Valley Church of the Regular Primitive Baptist and remained a
member until his death and on the second Saturday in November, 1957,
Brother John and Sister Martha was ordained Deacon and Deaconess for
their church and was faithful attendants to their post so long as they
were physically able to attend. Brother John was a strong believer in
Salvation by God's Grace.
Our community has lost of our best loved citizens, our church, a strong
pillar, a faithful attendant and we will miss his presence, his aid, and
council in our work. Lacy Valley Church mourns his loss with his family.
While it is our loss we feel that it is heavens gain.
We feel that Brother Cole is now enjoying the cherished rest that Christ
promised and on the morning of the Resurrection Brother Cole will get up
with a perfect body and will be able to shout praises to the Lord who
kept him and redeemed him and will never again part from his loved ones.

Sept 1969James Helton
James Helton, 77, a retired Morgan County farmer, died at 4:45 pm
Sunday, Jan 12, at his residence at Ophir following a long illness. He
was a member of the Primitive Baptist Church.
Born Nov 18, 1891, he was the son of William and Alice McKenzie Helton.
Surviving are his wife, Mint Cole Helton of Ophir; four daughters, Mrs.
Jesse Hill of Ashland, Mrs. Frank Pennington of Flat Gap, Mrs James
Gibbs of Flat Fork, and Mrs. Roy Cantrell of Ophir, one brother Sam
Helton of Ohpir, one sister Mrs. J C Hamilton of Ashland, 30
grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral ws conducted Wednesday at the residence at Ophir at 10:30 am
with the Rev Lonnie Wright, Rev John Gibbs, and Rev Jesse Smith
officiating. Burial was in the Helton Cemetery at ophir with Herald and
Stewart Funeral Home in charge.
Raleigh M. Williams
A son of the late James S William and Amanda Williams; Raleigh was from
a family of six, 3 brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Raleigh was born February 6, 1904 and departed this life June 27, 1957
being 65 years., 3 months and 22 days of age. On the 21st of September
1921, Raleigh was united in matrimony to Martha Ross and to this union
were born three daughters and two sons. Martha preceded him in death
June 4, 1966. Then Raleigh was married to Ada Jenkins. The date of the
marriage unknown. Ada, his second wife survives. Others who survive are
his children; Mrs. Don Wright of Silverhill, Ky., Mrs. R. P. Williams,
Wheelersburg, and 15 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren and a host
of relatives and friends. Here is a statement that was found in his
bible. It reads like this:
"I, Raleigh Williams was converted tot he knowledge of the truth and was
baptized into the Holy Spirit on May 28, 1956."
Brother Raleigh never attached himself to any church until August of
1968. He was baptized by Elder Lonnie Wright and Elder Jesse Smith and
took membership with the Lacey valley Church of Regular Primitive
Baptist. We the members of the church along with his family mourn his
loss while it is our loss it is heavens gain.
Margret Ann Hill
In memory of Margaret Ann Hill, she was born July 11, 1887, the daughter
of Asia and Mirandy Bolin Cantrell. She was united in marriage Jan 6,
1906 to John W. Hill, who preceded her in death.
To this union were born 10 children, two having preceded her in death.

Ky; Nettie Adkins, Chillicothe, Ohio; Lexie Williams, Chillicothe, Ohio;
Bula Salyer, Jackson Ohio; Maudie Beekma, Washington Ch. Ohio; Della
Dickson, Waverly ohio; and four brothers and two sisters; Sanford
Cantrell, Dingus Ky; Nick Cantrell, Mima, Ky.; Mance Cantrell, Mima
Ky.;Erwin Cantrell, Silverhill, Marville Wright, Martha, Ky.; and
Sylvane Dulin, West Liberty Ky. Also 39 grandchildren and 60
great-grandchildren
She was 80 years old, 2 months and 14 days at the time of her death
which occurred at her home at Piketon, Ohio September 26, 1967. She was
converted and joined the Lebanon Church of United Baptist when she was
14 years old where she remained a member until May 6, 1962 when she
changed her membership to Smith Creek Valley Church where she remained a
member in good standing at the time of her death. She leaves to mourn
her passing her children, brothers, sisters, grandchildren and her many
friends and relatives with her brothers and sisters of the church. She
will be sadly missed by all who knew her here.
Rosa Helton Hamilton
Mrs. Rose Helton Hamilton, the daughter of the late William Helton and
Alice McKenzie Helton was born April 28, 1886 and departed this life
February 26, 1969.
Rosa was married to Clint Hamilton and to this union was born 11
Children, four children preceded her in death . Surviving besides her
husband, Clint Hamilton are Bertie Cantrell, Pikeville, Ky; Ivory
Pendleton of Ashland, Tealie Cantrill, Mansville Ohio, Douglas Hamilton
Dayton, Ohio; Jim Hamilton, Ashland Ohio, Gracie Birchett, Crockett Ky;
Myrtle Pennington, Flat Gap and one brother Sam Helton, Ohpir ly; and a
host of friends and relatives.

Catherine Smith
Mrs Catherine Smith, 31, wfe of Jesse J Smith of Conover, ohio died at
9:30 am Thursday after a long illness.
Born August 20, 1939, in Morgan County she was a daughter of Rev Lonnie
and Lual Cantrell Wright of Dingus.
Besides her husband and her parents, Mrs,. Smith is survived by six
children, Judy, Janet, Jennie, Hattie, Brenda and Frank all at home; six
sisters, Mrs Dosha Wright and Mrs Virgie Holbrook of Rte 3 Liberty, Mrs
Ellen Allen of Sidney Ohio; Mrs Mabel Young and Shirley Wright of
Silverhill and Mrs. Lula Gay Bolin of Piqua, Ohio and three brothers,
Buford Wright of Fairborn, Ohio; Clyde Wright of Dayton Ohio, and Bud
Wright of Piqua, Ohio.
Funeral was conducted Saturday January 23 at 2pm at the West Union
Baptist Church at Dingus. Burial was in the Sam Wright Cemetery on
Coffee Creek.

Audra Wallen
In Memory of Audra Wallen who was born May 22, 1930 an son of the late
Sanford and Fannie Ferguson Wallen. He was United in marriage to Wilma
Ruth Holbrook July 2, 1956. To this union no children were born.
He is survived by his wife and one daughter by a former marriage, Mrs
Yolanda Pennington, also by three brothers, Ballard and Goebel Wallen
Rte 3, West Liberty and Gaylord Wallen of West Liberty, two sisters Mrs
Oval Ferguson, Mrs Mitchell Keeton, both of rte 3, West Liberty.
He was baptized and joined the Smith Creek Valley Church of Primitive
Baptist Feb 3, 1962 where he remained a beloved brother at the time of
his death which occurred Dec 30, 1973. He was 43 years, 7 mos and 8 days
old.
He is survived by a host of relatives and friends.
P Smith
In memory of P Smith, born July 1880 a son of the late Cove and Vicy
Cantrell Smith.
He was united in marriage to Bertha Blevins Nov 12, 1902 and to this
union were born three children. Mrs. Pearlie Jones ,Mrs. Amanda Smith
and Mavie Ball. His wife, sister Bertha, departed this life April 30,
1969.
He is survived by his three daughters and one brother, R C Smith and 11
grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces and
other relatives.
He was 93 years old, 11 month and 21 days at the time of his death which
occurred June 15, 1974 at the Paintsville Hospital. He was a man well
liked and respected in this community has lost a man that will be sadly
missed, his children a loving father, his brother has lost a brother
which has left his the last survivor of a large family, the
grandchildren have lost a grandparent who was loving and kind and
gentle, especially his granddaughter with whom he made his home.
Susaner Conley
Mrs. Susaner Conley age 87, of Fuget died July 24, 1974 funeral services
were conducted at her home by Rev. Bruce Reed and Rev. Bruce Daniel.
Burial was in the Conley family Cemetery.
Mrs Conley was born October 24, 1886 in Morgan County., a daughter of
the late William Isaac and Mary Skaggs Ferguson, her husband passed away
in 1959. They had been Christians for years, both had been baptized by
Elder Elijah and Jessie Smith and belonged to the Isonville Regular
Baptist Church. Mrs Conley is survived by three sons, Edgel Conley of
Fuget, where she made her home, Bill Conley of Flat gap, James Conley of
Michigan, two daughters, Mrs Monnie Sparks of Blaine Ky and Mrs Mary A,
Stapleton of Crockett. We will all miss her.
