Otto VanHoose
T-4 Sgt Otto Van Hoose passed away at the Station Hospital, at camp Shelby, Miss Sept. 9, 1944. The body arrived in Paintsville Wednesday, Sept, 13 and was taken by the Jones Funeral Home to the home of Walter B. Ward, his wife's father at Tutor Key.
The body was accompanied from Camp Shelby by Sgt. Watson Gibson, a personal friend of the deceased.
Otto was operated on for a ruptures appendix at Camp Shelby August 4, His wife was notifed that his condition was critical. She left at once for Camp Shelby and was with him one week before his death.
The pallbearers were Sgt. Wilson Gibson, Cpl Henry Delong, Pvt. Virgil Stambaugh, Luther Conley, L. L. Meade and C. Wells.
He was laid to rest in Hayes cemetery Tutor Key.
