Ola V. VanMeter

 

Ola V. VanMeter, 87, of Red Bridge Rd., Peebles, died Friday morning at the Pleasant Hill Manor in Piketon.

She was born Sept. 14, 1914, in Paintsville KY. to the late Simon Andrew and Gillia Mae Blanton Tackett.  She was united in marriage on Nov. 27, 1935, to Rev. Lewis H. VanMeter, who preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1983.

Surviving are a son, Richard (Rosa) VanMeter, of Peebles; one daughter, Lois Jane (Harold) Monroe, of Lebanon, Ohio; two grandchildren, Tony Lewis VanMeter, of Peebles and Cindy Tyree of Springfield; four great-grandchildren; six brothers, Johnny Tackett, of Springfield, Harry Tackett of Jamestown, Harold Tackett of Peebles, Melvin Tackett of Cincinnati, Delbert Tackett of Cedarville, and Donald Tackett of Peebles; two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle (Ernest) Leeth and Mrs. Imogene (Paul) Leeth, both of Piketon.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Loretta Wheeler; three brothers, Oakel, Wayne and Andrew Tackett; and a sister, Evelyn Litteral.

She was a member of the Morgantown Church of Christ in Christian Union and attended the Smith Chapel Church.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Botkin Funeral Home, Waverly, with the Rev. Lewis Viar officiating.  Burial will follow in the Gardner Cemetery.  Friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 8 p.m. and 12 noon to 2 p.m. at the funeral home on Monday.
