GLADYS McCOWN

Gladys McCown, 78, of Chillicothe, died 1:40 p.m. Tuesday August 20, 2002, in the Adena Regional Medical Center, following a short illness.

She was born Oct. 4, 1923, in Floyd Co Ky, to the late Henry and Dollie Spradlin Collins. She was predeceased by her husband, Herman McCown Sr., May 22, 1979.

Surviving are son, Danny Ray Newsome; son and dau-in-law, Herman Jr. and Brenda McCown, all of Chillicothe; four grandchildren, Vernon Ray Newsome, Billy Ray Newsome, Kenneth Ray Newsome and Andrew Nathan McCown and wife Jody; great grandson, Andrew Edward McCown; brother, Charles Collins of Melvin, Ky; sister Charlene Simpson, of Middlesboro, Ky.; and nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by daughter, Phyllis Ann Sears; and 11 brothers and sisters.

Graveside services will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. Friends may call at the Ware Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday (today).
