Lonnie Hitchcock
On the morning of February 28, 1928, while everything was quiet the death angel
stole softly into the home of Mr. and Mrs. G.B. Hitchcock and took from them
their beloved son Lonnie, who, for several years has been a sufferer of
tuberculosis.
About one year prior to this date when Lonnie was suffering greatly with this
disease, Jesus spoke the life giving words unto him and his sins were taken
away.
Lonnie then improved to some extent, being able to go about to church or around
the community until the illness preceding his death.
We now feel assured that Lonnie is resting in the Arms of Jesus. For Jesus said,
"All ye who are weary come unto me and I will give you rest."
Lonnie was never known to harm anyone but was greatly beloved by all who knew
him. He leaves to mourn a mother, father, three brothers, and three sisters.
While we know that the family is heart broken over having to depart with one so
dear we wish to say to them, grieve not for Lonnie for he is now at rest where
pain is never felt, but may you live for Jesus so that when he calls you can go
and live with Lonnie where you will enjoy the heavenly life that he now enjoys.
When the shades of life shall gather,
Sad may be the hearts.
But the memory of dear Lonnie
Never shall depart.
----A Friend.
