James Willard Preston, 64, of Augusta, Illinois, died April 12, in Burlington  Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa.

Mr. Preston was born in Johnson County, the son of the late Rev. Fred and  Rosa Stanley Preston. He was a retired industrial engineer of Colt  Industries Quincy Compressor, a World War II veteran and a member of Trinty  Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Frye; two sons, David Jams of Kirkwood, MO., and Phillip Edward of St. Louis; two daughters, Mrs. Sherry Pieper of Rockford, and Cynthia Fleig, Washington, D. C.; four grandchildren; six sisters, Nellie Elam of Lexington, Maude Jackson of Dallas, Laura Schultz of Washington, PA., Estelle Porter of Cummons, Georgia, Alice Roberts and Mary Grace Roman of Paintsville.

Funeral services were conducted at Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta, IL., with Rev. Joseph Wright officiating.

Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery, in Augusta.
