James Willard Preston, 64, of Augusta, Illinois, died April 12, in Burlington Medical Center, Burlington, Iowa.

Mr. Preston was born in Johnson County, and was the son of the late Rev. Fred and Rosa Stanley Preston. He had retired  from Colt Industries Quincy Compressor as an industrial engineer. He was a World War II veteran and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.

Surviving are his wife, Jean Frye, two sons, David James of Kirkwood, MO and Phillip Edward of St. Louis, two daughters, Mrs. Sherry Pieper of Rockford and Cynthia Fleis, Washington, D. C.; four grandchildren, six sisters, Nellie Elam of Lexington, Maude Jackson of Dallas, Laura Schultz of Washington, Pa, Estelle Porter of Cummons, Georgia, Alice Roberts and Mary Grace Roman of Paintsville.

Funeral services were conducted at Hamilton Funeral Home, Augusta, IL with Rev. Joseph Wright officiating.

Burial was in Woodlawn Cemetery in Augusta.
