    John M. Richardson, 83, died Friday, December 8, 1978 in Paintsville Hospital after a brief illness. Born November 21, 1895, in Letcher County, he was the son of Andrew and Loucinda Cook Richardson. He was a resident of Paintsville, a disabled veteran of World War I and a member of the Protestant Church.

    Surviving are his wife, Verda Hammonds Amburger Richardson; three step-sons, Berkley Amburgey, Paintsville, J. Bart Amburgy, Corbin and Earl Amburgey, Lexington; four step-daughters, Lelah Litteral, Paintsville, Lottie Caughman, Columbia, S.C., 17 step-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

    Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 12, 1978, in Jones–Preston Funeral Home.
