John L Vaughan

Dead in California

                News has just reached Johnson County of the death of John L. Vaughan, who died in the home of his daughter on Pasedena California, in April. Mrs. D. M. Jones, with whom he lived and died formerly lived at Louisa.

                John L Vaughan at one time conducted a mercantile business just east of the Teass Branch now owned by the Mayo Heirs where he had a very lucrative trade, dealing extensively in produce. Mr. Vaughan was twice married and born to his first wife were two daughters. One of the daughters, Laurene, was married to Solon Patrick of Magoffin County while the second daughter, Belle, was married to D M Moore of Louisa. His second wife, was a daughter of John Davis and a sister of the late Dan Davis who died at his home a few years ago at his home three miles west of Paintsville. Mr. Vaughan left Paintsville about 40 years ago and for a time was traveling salesman for the grocery company of Louisa. He later went to Cincinnati where he lived until he went to live with his daughter at Pasadena, Ca/. almost two years ago.

                With the death of Mr. Vaughan removes one of the old pioneer business men of a period of 50 years ago.
