At Oil Springs an the 4th of November, 1926 John L Patrick passed to his last reward. After an ill ness of more than two weeks.
John L Patrick was born in Magoffin County on the 6th day of October 1848 and at the time of his death he was 78 years of age.
He left surviving him his widow Sarah Craft Patrick, two sons, C H Patrick, Police Judge of Salyersville and R L Patrick of Kansas City, Mo. The deceased man was the son of Cas Patrick who was a soldier in the Civil war and died in the army and was a member of one of the most prominent families of Eastern Ky. He was among the pioneer settlers of Magoffin County where he spent practically all his life. He led a simple uneventful life as a mountaineer. He was a good citizen and always stood for law enforcement and civic betterment. But few men who have spent their days in this section of this state had more friends than John Patrick. He had a friendly handshake and smile for all the people that he met, the rich and poor alike. In addition to the long train of relatives he leaves a multitude of friends to mourn his loss.
While the grave retains all that is mortal of our dear departed friend and neighbor may his soul be welcomed by the God who gave it to that city of eternal rest.
