John H. Witten

John H. Witten died Dec.14, 1972. He was the brother of my grandmother, Luella Witten. Their parents were Francis M. Witten and Hattie (Addie) Dills. The following is from the Lewis County Herald in Kentucky:
John H. Witten, 78, died at 7:15 a.m. Dec 14th at his home in Garrison. He had been in failing health for sometime. A veteran of World War I, he was a retired farmer and was born in Johnson County, Ky., on June 25, 1895. Preceding him in death was his wife, Mrs. Frona Liles Witten.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Patricia Horsley and Mrs. Judy Fite, Troy, O., Miss Hester Witten, at home, a half-brother, Jack Witten, of Garrison, three half-sisters, Mrs. Edna Pennington, Wurtland, Ky., Mrs. Wilson Liles, Sorento, Fla., and Mrs. Walter Vanhoose, Paintsville, Ky., and four grandchildren.
Services were conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Bivens Chapel Christian Holiness Church of which he was a member. Rev. Charles Riggs officiated and burial was in the Waring Cemetery, Garrison, under direction of Dickerson Funeral Home.
