BRIDEGROOM OF ONE WEEK ACCIDENTALLY SHOOTS SELF WITH OWN GUN MONDAY AFTERNOON
Hubert Green, 26, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Green of the Tom Creek Section was accidentally killed near the home of his father Monday Afternoon.
Young Green is an employee of the North-East Coal Company and had gone home with his bride to spend a weeks vacation. After the rain on Monday afternoon he decided to go squirrel hunting near the Green home and while out hunting the accident occurred .which deprived him of his life and left his bride of a few days a widow. He was married last Friday afternoon in Paintsville by Rev Arthur Green, to Miss Minnie McKenzie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.. Charley McKenzie of Thealka.
No one was a witness to the tragedy but it is the consensus of opinion that the young man slipped on a slippery stone and fell and the gun discharged throwing the entire load into his right side. The family became anxious over his prolonged absence made a search and the dead body of the unfortunate young man was found late Monday afternoon with the discharged gun lying a few feet away.
Young Green had been an employee of the North-East Coal Company for some time and had spent most of his time recently at Thealka.
The remains of the unfortunate young man were laid to rest near his home on Tom's Creek and the services were in charge of the Odd Fellows, Mr. Green being a member of that organization. It is said that more than 500 people were present.
Much sympathy is expressed for the young bride and the broken hearted father and mother.
