JAMES MONROE WILLIAMS, 83, WELL KNOWN RESIDENT OF JOHNSON COUNTY, SUCCUMBED AT HIS HOME AT WILLIAMSPORT SUNDAY, FOLLOWING AN ILLNESS OF THREE YEARS. DEATH WAS ATTRIBUTED TO PNEUMONIA.
THE SON OF ROBERT AND ELIZABETH COLLINS WILLIAMS, HE WAS BORN SEPTEMBER 12, 1870 AT FLAT GAP.
HE HAD BEEN A RESIDENT OF WILLIAMSPORT FOR MORE THAN FIFTY YEARS.
ON OCTOBER 14, 1892, HE MARRIED MARTHA JANE DEBOARD, WHO SURVIVES. TO THIS UNION WERE BORN FIVE SONS, J.H. WILLIAMS, AND JAMES WILLIAMS JR., BOTH OF WILLIAMSPORT. WALTER WILLIAMS OF PAINTSVILLE, EVERETTE WILLIAMS, WAYLAND, AND FRED WILLIAMS, DECEASED; SIX DAUGHTERS, OLLA BUTCHER, MAE ROSE, MAGGIE MOLLETT ALL OF WILLIAMSPORT, RUTH PRESTON, PORTSMOUTH, OHIO; JUANITA LETNER, VANDALIA, OHIO, AND MINNIE DANIELS, DECEASED.
ALSO SURVIVING ARE ONE BROTHER, THOMAS K WILLIAMS, BAILEYSVILLE, W.VA.; THREE SISTERS, MRS. ELVA PRICE, WEST VAN LEAR, MRS. DELLA SLHITT, HUNGINGTON W. VA..; 43 GRANDCHILDREN, 60 GREAT-GRANDCHILDREN, AND ONE GREAT-GREAT GRANDCHILD.
FUNERAL SERVIVES WERE HELD AT 10:00 A.M., TUESDAY AT THE BOONS CAMP FREEWILL BAPTIST CHURCH WITH REV. WILLIAM MORGAN AND REV. MACK PROVINCE OFFICIATING. MUSIC WAS BY THE WILLIAMS QUARTET.
BURIAL WAS MADE IN THE WILLIAMS CEMETERY UNDER THE DIRECTION OF THE PRESTON FUNERAL HOME.
