Ernest Neville Preston, 65, died October 21 in a hospital near his home in 29 Palms, California. Mr. Preston was born February 6, 1914 at Paintsville. He was a son of the late William R. (Bill R) and Della McKenzie Preston.A graduate of Paintsville High School and a veteran of World War II and the Korean War, he served with the U. S. Marines from 1937 until discharged because of service related disability in 1954. After discharge from the Marines, he was employed at the 29 Palms, California Marine Base.
Mr. Preston and Mabel Dills, daughter of Jess B. and Virginia Helton Dills, were married in Bermuda June 18, 1948. He is survived by his wife and two sons, Lieutenant Commander Randall Preston, U. S. Navy, Norwich, Conn, and Geoffrey Preston, 29 Palms.
Among other survivors are two grandchildren and three brothers, W. R. Preston of Irvin, Cecil M. Preston of Kingston, Tenn, and Leon H. Preston of Paintsville. A brother, Shady K. Preston, preceded him in death. An Honor Guard and Ceremonial Unit from the Marine Base conducted the burial services.
