Elbert Picklesimer
Elbert Franklin Picklesimer, 28, a veteran of five years of Army service, was killed instantly in an automobile accident Saturday night as he was returning home from his work to his home at Pickerington, Ohio. The accident occured near Pickerington when he lost control of the car and overturned three times. He died shortly afterwards of a broken neck.The son of Mrs. Lettie Picklesimer and the late Elzie Picklesimer of Oil Springs, he was a member of a prominent family of this county. He was a survivor of three years overseas duty during World War II, serving in Italy, Africa, and Iceland. He was born May 5, 1922, and had spent most of his life in the Oil Springs vicinity. On January 6, 1947 he was married to Irene Holbrook who survives him. Other survivors, besides his mother, are two sisters and one brother, Miss Nadene Picklesimer, Oil Springs, Mrs. Oneida McKenzie, Johnstown, Ky., and Glen Picklesimer, Washington Court House, Ohio.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 6, at 11:00 a.m. at the home of his mother at Oil Springs by Rev. Oscar McCarty and Rev. Lonza Reed. Burial was made in the Pickle Fork Cemetery under the direction of the Paintsville Funeral Home.
