Johnson Woman Died In Texas

Mrs W J Rice, Formerly of Paintsville, Passed Away At Laredo, Texas July 7

                The many Johnson County friends of Mrs. Eloise Rice will  be grieved to learn of her passing away July 7, 1926, after a brief illness at the home of her daughter, Mys Wilda Louise Flynn, 905 Chichuahua St., Laredo Texas.

                She was a woman loved by all who knew her and her live was one constant service. But that seemed to be her way to be happy in doing something for others.

                She came to Johnson County when a tiny girl during the civil war with her mother, Mrs McGuire and brother John to join the twin boys Jack and Jim who were in camp at Paintsville, from Tazewell County, Va. She married a Johnson County boy, W J Rice, who made their home in Paintsville for many years. Mr Rice died in Atlanta Ga., a few years ago. One son Richard died in France during the World War. The other children that survive her are, Arthur of New York City, Elbery of Mexico City; Carroll of Dayton, Ohio. Alfred Elmer of Houston Texas, Mrs Virginia Boord, of Wilmington, Del, Mrs Vivian Stevens of Hollywood, Ca., and Mrs Willa Louise Flynn of Laredo. Mrs Boord, Mrs. Flynn, Carroll and Alfred were in Laredo for the funeral service.

                Mrs. Rice is the sister in law of Mrs. J B Brown of this City.

                Will J Rice was well known in Johnson County by the older generation of citizens. He was located in Paintsville for several years where he conducted a religious publication
