Indenture of Elias Davis & James Henry Blanton
This indenture made and entered into this 3 day of April eighteen hundred and Fifty seven between Elias Davis and Elizabeth Davis his wife of the one part and James Blanton of the other part both parties of the county of Johnson and State of Kentucky
witnesseth that the said Elias Davis and wife for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and twenty five dollars two hundred of which was paid to James Davis by consent and twenty five dollars to us paid the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged hath this day granted bargained sold and conveyd unto the said James Blanton the following described tract of land lying and being in the county and State affore said on Big Paint Creek and its watersX Beginning at a plum tree and white oak Standing on the bank of a branch that runs down through said Davis field thence running with the edge of the clift up to two pines marked by the parties thence crossing the Glade branch and running through the gap on the clift of rocks to Paint Creek thence up Paint with its meanders to a holly bush standing on the conditional line made between said Blanton and Lemuel McKnizie thence with said conditional line to the top of the paint to a white oak and maple thence with the dividing ridge between the Glade branch and the laurel Branch to the top of the ridge at the head of the waters at George’s Branch and the said laurel branch and Slade Branch to a chestnut oak and red oak a corner named in a pattent that issued in the name of said Blanton bearing date the 26th Nov 1855 thence with the dividing ridge between George’s branch and the Glade branch to the Glade Gap thence down a ___ to George’s branch then N41 E60 pole to chestnut oak N18 E 28 pole to a black oak standing on the top of the ridge thence with the dividing ridge between the Glade branch and George’s branch to two chestnut oaks standing at the head of the rich hollow thence with the center of the dividing ridge between George’s branch and Glade branch to the conditional line between Said Davis and Blanton thence with said conditional line to the Beginning which said tract of land together with all and singular the benefits and emaluments there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining we the said Elias Davis and Elizabeth his wife do forever warrant and defend unto the said James Blanton his heirs and assigns and all and ever ____ under whence we Claim In witness whereof . we have here unto subscribed our names the day and year above written. I John Howes Clerk of the County Court for the county above said Certify that this Deed from Elias Davis & Elizabeth Davis his wife to James Blanton was this day Proven to me in my office and Acknowledged by the sd Elias Davis to Be his act and Deed and so Deed Being explained to the sd Elizabeth separate and apart from her husband acknowledged the same to be her act and Deed and consenteth that the same may be Recorded whereupon sd Deed has been Duly admitted to Record in my office given under my hand this 3 Day of April 1857
