MAJOR  BOSIER CASTLE CALLED TO ARMY SERVICE AT 63

                Called from retirement to active duty, Major Bosier Castle, 63, of 1910 S. 3rd, was prepared yesterday for anything to happen in the continuation of an eventful military career that has taken him thru St. Mihiel and the Argonne.

                A native of Johnson County, Major Castle served in four major engagements in WWI, receiving the silver star for courage and skill in the Argonne when he was elevated to the command of his battalion.

Recalled in 1920

Major Castle, then a Capt., and one of two officers and 116 men to return from twenty-two days in the Argonne out of an original group of 27 officers and 897 men. He was promoted to Major on Armistice Day.

Major Castle spent many months in Germany with the army occupation, before returning to this country where he was honorably discharged. He was recalled in 1920, serving for ten years before being retires because of ill health from being gassed.

He has been ordered to report for duty at Chicago for the duration.

Major Castle has a son, Chilton W. Castle, who is an Army Aviation Cadet at Nashville and eight nephews in the service including Capt. Jack Castle, son of Mr. and Mrs.. Lewis Castle, Thealka, (somewhere in England)
