Dr. Ernest Archer
Dr. Ernest E Archer, husband of Fanny Auxier of Auxier and Paintsville was a front line surgeon in WWI in France who was wounded and shell shocked. He returned and practiced in Paintsville.

Dr. Ernest E. Archer was also the Mayor of Paintsville and was considered one of the leading surgeons on all of Eastern Ky.Ernest was married to Fannie Auxier,
Dr. Archer was a native of Prestonsburg in Floyd Co, and a son of George P and Emma John Archer. After graduating from the University of Louisville in 1910 he started to build a practice. Later he took charge of the medical department at the North-East Coal Company. He was there from October 1911 to to August 1917. At this time he enlisted in the Medical Corps as a Capt. He was later promoted to Major and was honorably discharged in April 1919. Upon his return he once again served the community with the organization of the Paintsville Hospital which he served as President until he death in 1934. He served the people as Mayor from 1926 - 1933.
