The Arcade
Paintsville's Show House.
Few people are aware that the city can boast one of the best little moving picture theaters not only in Kentucky but in the United States -- The Arcade. The management of this little show house procures only the best and latest films produced by the film corporation for the clean amusement of their patron. The patrons of the Arcade can see the latest productions of the cameraman's art in Paintsville just as as soon as he would be able to see it in Cincinnati/ No effort or worth has been spared to give patrons the worth of their money. Quality is never sacrificed on account of the cost of a picture and sometimes the theatre is operate at a loss.
Moving pictures are sometimes objectionable condemned, and this is probably justified in some towns where unscrupulous managers show objectionable films but not the case in Paintsville. Moving Pictures when properly conducted are educational and elevating, and the Arcade theatre of Paintsville is conducted along those lines. Fred Meade is Proprietor of this popular show house and will not tolerate pictures to be shown in his theatre that could be objectionable or offensive to anyone.
The idea of half a holiday on Saturdays has taken possession of the rural population as well as town people and in view of this fact Mr. Meade will during the summer months run a matinee each Saturday afternoon for the benefit of the country folk who wish to come to Paintsville to see a good show at a small price. With the construction of good roads people of the county can come to Paintsville and for a small price see the same high class movie on Saturday afternoon as those of town at night and get back home for supper.
