KILLED ON LEYTE

    Mrs. Carma Cantrell Fyffe wife of Pfc. Arnold Fyffe, has been informed that it has been reported her husband has been  killed in action on Leyte on the 29th of January 1945. He was the son of Mrs. Shella Fyffe of Elna. His father, Oliver Fyffe, passed away approximately a year before.

    He is also survived by two brothers in service, Joe, with the Navy in the Philippines, and Pfc. Elbert Fyffe in Belgium and a brother Bernard Fyffe of Chicago, Ill.

    Pfc. Arnold Fyffe had been in service approximately three years in the Pacific area since last March. Mrs. Fyffe had been in defense work at Osborn, Ohio, and returned to her home at Elna last week for a few weeks to visit family.

    This death was reported to the Paintsville Herald on Mar 1, 1945
