Trustee Meetings 1894

 

Order of tax levy for April 3, 1894. The Supt. Of common schools of Johnson County, having condemned for repair the school house and furniture in District No. 27 in accordance with section 41 Common School law and ordered in compliance with Section 78 and 79 of said law, we the board of trustees has this day met after due notice to all and all present, to provide for carrying out such an order, we hereby levy a tax of one dollar on each white male citizen over 21 years of age and now residing in the district and also  10 cents on the $100.00 worth of taxable property in the school district. Said tax shall be paid to the treasurer of the District as provided in section 79, Common School Law.

This si to certify that an election was held at the School house in District No. 27 and that William Sagraves was duly elected trustee for the term of three years

At the levying of tax made by Board of Trustees Apr. 3, 1894, the board appoints M. L. Ross as Treasurer, took his bond of $100 with Louis Lemasters and John P. Tilson as his surities for his faithful performances approved by county judge which the said M. L. Ross, Treasurer shall hold his office for four years as prescribed in School law. This July 7, 1894

July 2, 1894 in accordance with the call of the chairman the board of trustees met at the school house and agreed and employed Julia Williams to teach the common scholl in District No. 27 for the school year ending June 30, 1895 for a compensation of the public money belongng to said district for said year.

July  5, 1894 - paid N. W. Williams balance on tax old debt 75 cents. Reced the debt as taxes

July  5, 1894 - paid J. H. Rigsby on old debt by taxes $1.15

June 10, 1894- bought of S. Kelly 330 ft lumber to ceil black board, also for seat and desk #3.30 Dec. 18, 1894 cr. By M. L Ross

July 2, 1894 - Bought W. H. Sagraves 50 ft oak lumber for seats 50 cents

                                Lumber for desk and table  75 cents

                                Hauling 2 loads of lumber  75 cents

 

Article of agreement made and entered into this the 2nd day of July, 1894 by and between the school trustees of District No. 27 of Johnson Co. Ky and Julia Williams teacher. It is agreed that the said julia williams shall teach the public school according to the common School law of Kentucky and that she shal receive all public money due said district for the said years. It is agreed that the floor shall be regularly swept and the fire regularly made by said teacher the trustees furnishing the fuel, bucket and brrom therefor, witness our hand this day and year written above.  Grade certificate No. 1

Common school opened July 16, 1894 with Julia Williams teacher, Board of Trustees present. Dr. to Wm. H. Sagraves ceiling schol house, making seats, desk and general repairing  $13.00

August 20, cash credit $3.70
