Established by Dan
Hemphill in 1901, Hemphill's Pharmacy has played an
important role in the lives of everyone in Jessamine
County. Located on the corner of West Maple and Main
Street, it was "The Place" to buy just about
anything needed in a small town. It even boasted a soda
fountain and food counter, where many a cherry coke or
hamburger has been served, as well as, providing
the first job for many of Nicholasville's young citizens. It was recently announced that Hemphill's will be closing it's doors on it's long and proud history, as of this year, Jessamine County's bi-centennial year. It will be sorely missed by one and all and will be remembered long after the doors are closed. |
