Nicholasville,Kentucky: Mr. Lindsey House, known to many Jessamine Countians as "Uncle Linnie", marked his 100th birthday today. Until an illness a few months ago, Mr. House had been extremely active. He walked about town each day visiting friends and would often spurn offers of rides in a car, joking that he was "in a hurry". Mr. House farmed for many years on the Chrisman Mill Pike and on many occasions, even in his later years, walked the six miles to his farm. Until two summers ago, he planted a vegetable garden at his home on Richmond Avenue. Although his hearing has failed, his eyes are good and he can still read without glasses. Among his earlier memories are walking on plank sidewalks in Nicholasville when he was young. Born in Jessamine County, his parents were Benjamin & Martha Jane Stinnet House. His father was a union soldier in the Civil War. His family includes two sons, Oakley House of Lexington, and Burton House of Nicholasville, a brother Alvin House, a sister, Mrs. L.D.
